Your Child Doesn’t Need Another Lecture About Working Harder
They need to learn how to lead themselves —
- How to get started without being chased
- How to stay focused when distractions appear
- How to keep going when motivation disappears
- How to respond when things don’t go according to plan
- How to gradually take ownership of their goals, choices and responsibilities
That is what the Six-Week Self-Leadership Coaching Programme — a focused, 12-session intensive engagement — is built to develop.
.
The Child Who Knows What To Do… But Doesn’t Always Do It
Many children know exactly what they should be doing. They know they should study, complete their assignments, prepare for tests, reduce distractions, and work toward their goals.
But knowing is not the same as doing.
A child can be intelligent, capable and full of potential, and still struggle with:
| Procrastination | “I’ll do it later.” |
| Distraction | “I just want to check one thing.” |
| Low motivation | “I don’t feel like doing it.” |
| Inconsistency | “I did it for a few days, then stopped.” |
| Dependence | “Nobody reminded me.” |
| Avoidance | “It’s too difficult.” |
| Poor follow-through | “I started, but I didn’t finish.” |
These are not simply academic problems. They are self-leadership skills that are still developing — and skills can be taught.
Six Weeks. One Important Direction.
From External Direction To Internal Leadership
Your child will not become completely independent in six weeks. But six weeks can create a powerful foundation — helping a child begin to see themselves differently.
Not simply as someone who is told what to do, but as someone who can think, choose, act and take responsibility.
Introducing The Six-Week Self-Leadership Coaching Programme For Children Ages 9–14
A structured coaching experience that helps children develop the internal skills and practical habits required to take greater ownership of their learning and their lives.
Over six weeks — 12 sessions in total — children are guided through practical lessons, reflection, discussion, activities and real-world application.
They don’t just learn about self-leadership. They practise it.
What We Develop
- Goal Ownership
Children learn to identify meaningful goals and understand why those goals matter to them.
- Personal Systems
They learn how to create practical systems that make it easier to act on their intentions.
- Focus and Distraction Management
They learn to recognise distractions and make better decisions about where their attention goes.
- Initiative
They learn how to get started instead of waiting until they feel motivated or someone pushes them.
- Consistency
Children discover why consistency beats intensity, and how small, repeated actions create meaningful progress.
- Responsibility
They learn to take ownership of their choices, actions, results and responses.
- Thinking and Problem-Solving
They develop the habit of thinking through challenges rather than automatically looking for someone else to provide the answer.
- Independence
The ultimate direction is greater ownership.
Less: “Tell me what to do.” More: “I know what needs to be done. What is my next step?”
This Is Not A Tuition Programme
We are not primarily teaching another school subject, and we are not simply giving children more things to do.
This is about how they manage themselves while doing the things that matter.
Because a child can have good teachers, a good school, good resources and good intentions — and still struggle to make consistent progress if they haven’t developed the ability to direct themselves.
Self-leadership provides that missing piece.
How The Six Weeks Work
Each week focuses on a practical aspect of self-leadership. Children move through the same rhythm every week:
- Learn — Understand a new principle.
- Reflect — Examine their own behaviour and choices.
- Practise — Try the skill in real situations.
- Apply — Use what they’ve learned in school and everyday life.
- Review — Notice what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to change.
The objective isn’t simply to complete six weeks of lessons. It’s to build capabilities that continue long after the programme ends.
What Parents Can Expect
The programme is designed to help children move gradually toward greater:
- Ownership — taking responsibility for what they need to do
- Initiative — getting started without always waiting for external pressure
- Consistency — following through even when motivation fluctuates
- Responsibility — owning their choices and responses
- Problem-solving — thinking through challenges
- Independence — managing more of their responsibilities for themselves
These changes take time. We don’t promise an overnight transformation — we develop capability through intentional practice.
Who Is This For?
The programme is particularly suitable for children ages 9–14 who are:
- capable but inconsistent
- easily distracted
- dependent on reminders
- struggling with procrastination
- finding it difficult to get started
- losing motivation quickly
- struggling to follow through
- ready for greater independence
- preparing for a new level of academic or personal responsibility
Your child doesn’t have to be failing at school. Self-leadership is valuable precisely because it can be developed before problems become bigger.
What We Want Children To Become
Not children who need an adult standing over them.
Not children who only perform when someone is watching.
Not children who depend entirely on motivation.
But young people who are gradually learning to say:
I can think. I can choose. I can act. I can adjust. I can keep going. I can take responsibility.
That is self-leadership.
